My success story started with my Dad telling a friend how he uses his MTL Covenant policy as an alternative method of financing his purchases. My clients were 50+ years old small business owners (trailer and trailer hitch business) with a close eye on retirement. During the initial interview with the client, I learned that he was paying 12-15% interest on the trailers sitting on the lot until they were sold. I explained to him the IBC concept and presented him with a $1,000,000 Covenant plan with a Single Paid-Up Addition rider of $40,000 and an annual Paid-Up Addition rider of $38,000.

The first year cash value of $84,000 provided the means to pay off the finance company for the trailers on the lot. As those trailers were sold he paid back his policy. He even provided financing to a few of his clients. The client has just paid his second annual premium and called to let me know that a property that they had been eyeing had just come on the market and wanted to know if he could use his policy to finance the purchase. The client has borrowed the purchase price ($60,000) from his policy and has created a schedule to pay it back over a 5 year period.
